The Virgin Suicides is Jeffrey Eugenides’ 1993 debut novel which is set in Grosse Pointe, Michigan during the 1970′s. It is a story of the suicides of five teenage daughters of the Lisbon family that fascinate their neighborhood in finding explanations for the acts. This novel is narrated by an anonymous man or group of adolescent boys who is/are obsessed over the Lisbon girls during their youth and now a middle-aged man/men. It narrates a history of how the tale of the five teenage sisters ended their lives as the narrator tried to put back together the story of the Lisbon girls. Though there were several names of the boys were mentioned, but the speaker’s identity remains unclear. The whole story relied on relics and interviews gathered two decades after the incident. Each plot are very well described in detailed leaving the readers a feeling of being one of the onlookers in the neighborhood.
